Preorder Overgrowth With Cash

A lot of people have asked us if there is a way to preorder Overgrowth using cash. PayPal, Google Checkout, and Amazon all require a credit card or bank account, so from time to time, people will send us cash in the mail -- sometimes even including coins in the envelope. This is not the best situation since cash is easily lost or stolen, not to mention being relatively slow and inconvenient for all parties.

Many startups have been created with the premise of converting cash into online purchasing power, but very few of them are actually practical. However, last week PayPal announced that it is partnering with Green Dot to allow PayPal users to add cash directly to their account with a service called MoneyPak. All you have to do is find the nearest MoneyPak retailer and load up a MoneyPak card with some cash at the cashier. While retailers will charge you up to $4.95 to use the service, PayPal pledges that "from now until December 31, 2009, customers who add money to PayPal with a MoneyPak for the first time will receive $5!". Be sure to read the promotion details.

We always like to try payment services ourselves before recommending them to others. So I went to a local CVS Pharmacy and put some cash on a MoneyPak card. I was pleased that the card works fine and sends funds instantaneously to your PayPal account. The only issue I had is that I might not get my promotional $5 bonus because you're supposed to register on this site first before using your card. So if you decide to use the Moneypak be smarter than me, register first. ;)

Sadly, MoneyPak is only available in the US, but it's nice to see that a payment solution we've already integrated is now even more accessible. Find the MoneyPak retailer nearest you!
