A Humble FAQ

Before we get into the frequently asked questions for the Humble Bundle, I'd like to bring your attention to a new feature!

The Electronic Frontier Foundation would like to sweeten the deal. Any bundle contribution of $100 or more (divided any way you choose, of course) will get you a complimentary EFF Pioneer Level Membership. This means you get your choice of an EFF hat, one of several t-shirts, or a book!

There are only 30 of these for now, so act fast!

To take advantage of this, just head over to your humble download page and click on the link at the bottom. Note: it will only show up if you have donated $100 or more. If you want to contribute a second time to reach the $100, just email me with your two contributions.

Humble Bundle FAQ

Well, the Humble Indie Bundle has been live for a little more than 15 hours and things are looking good! The response has been absolutely incredible -- we are currently serving up 2,708.74 MBits/sec of humble indie gaming. We want to give a big thank you to everyone who has made an effort to support us humble indie devs and our gaming-related charities.

I have been in the trenches trying to handle live support and a few things seem to be coming up more than others, so I thought I'd take a moment to address them.

How long does it take from the time I order until I receive my email?

It depends on the payment provider and your email server. Sometimes it's instantaneous but other times it can take up to 20 minutes. If lots of time passes, it is quite possible that something has gone wrong, so please contact me!

I get weird errors when I try to run some of the games. What should I do?

Some people have been getting incomplete downloads. If you download a file and the file size is different than what is listed, something has probably gone wrong and you'll need to get a fresh download. Using a different browser seems to improve people's odds of not getting a bad download twice in a row. If that doesn't work, contact me or the game's developer.

The games run, but they look weird. What should I do?

Please make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.

The Gish Linux Build is 64 bit but my system is 32 bit, can you help?

Yes, Alex Austin kindly prepared a 32 bit version as well. So if you had this problem earlier, please download the Linux Gish build again and it should work now.

How long will the download links last?

We would like to keep them indefinitely, but we need to check with everyone before we know for sure. To be safe, I recommend backing them up. We will have more information on this later.

What's the most people you've had visit you on the live chat at the same time?

Today a new all-time record was set. I had 20 Meebo guests pinging me at the same time. I felt a little like an ER physician needing to perform triage but it was nice to see that the site is so busy. If you can think of other major questions that other people are likely to have feel free to put them in the comments. We can add the major ones to this blog post.

Also in other news, our friends at Frictional Games have decided to offer the entire Penumbra series for $5 to anyone who buys the Humble Indie Bundle. So if Penumbra Overture leaves you wanting more you should definitely go check it out!
