By David on May 17th, 2008

I wrote a paper about my 3D acoustics research, with a lot of pictures and videos (including giant explosions). You can find it here!

Does this mean that headphone sales will sky-rocket? =D

Wow, In my programming experience, I never understood sound and the behavior of waves well enough to do anything but pan the sound from speaker to speaker, Great work David, you could make some serious Crisis level stuff here!

Very cool. Though having to invest in headphones/farther-apart speakers is a pain. I assume this won’t badly mess up sound from non-ideal speakers?

You can listen to the examples and find out :) You will miss out on the locational audio with mono speakers (or close stereo), but still get all of the reflections and diffraction and other effects.

I found it worked very well without headphones, surprisingly.
